Sources sweep — the four verdicts + the round-5 shortlist

1 · Free trial NO AT LAUNCH

The weekly at AED 24.99 is our trial substitute. Trials assume zero marginal cost — an ELA trial member holds real dispatch coverage, invites download-when-arrested adverse selection, and trial→arm→cancel bypasses the entire tombstone/abuse rail with no money moved. The +636% headline comes from the industry's worst baseline (weekly content apps); our structure (hard paywall, annual default, premium price) is already the highest-LTV configuration in the same datasets.

Port the transferable half: exact renewal price + date at the CTA, cancel-anytime, and a "remind me before renewal" promise — the anxiety-reduction patterns behind trial lifts (40–55% of trial cancels are day-0 self-protection). Fallback documented: one Apple intro offer on annual, only if post-launch data demands it, shipped with §3 amendments.

2 · A/B tooling NO SDK IN-HOUSE RIG

Superwall/RevenueCat/Adapty add a third party to a legally-reviewed money screen for a capability we already own server-side. In-house rig ≈ 3–4 dev-days: admin-config experiment weights → stable per-user variant → compiled-in variant map (control fallback) → milestone events; conversion truth is already server-side. Now: build only the event instrumentation (variant = "control") so the baseline compounds; gate variant assignment on ~2–5K monthly paywall views. Until then, iteration stays judgment-driven — these shotgun rounds.

3 · X-thread patterns

4 · Gallery steal list (protection-category vision pass)

  1. Proof-of-protection strip — Citizen embeds a simulated agent-on-standby push; Life360 shows the real map+timeline. ELA analog: the dispatch moment as UI-true miniature ("Consulate notified · 04:32").
  2. Coverage timeline, honestly repurposed — Today → verification window → protection active (the trial-timeline pattern mapped to our real onboarding truth).
  3. Value rows with REAL app thumbnails — miniatures of our actual armed screen/timeline instead of abstract icons (AllTrails pattern).
  4. Insurance amounts as tier line items + underwriter footnote — Aura's "$2M insurance" rows; ours stays generic ("underwritten by a regulated UAE insurer" — named insurer stays out of app copy per standing law).
  5. YNAB-style explicit clarity line at CTA — "I understand this renews at AED 749.99/year" energy, as calm copy not a checkbox.
  6. Both-columns-checked dispatch table — the anti-"notification-only" vaccine if we ever show tiers side-by-side.
  7. Per-week equivalence validated in the wild — always beside the real price, never instead (Weather Hi-Def's same-unit comparison is the cleanest form; G1 already does this).

Rejected on record: spin-wheels, countdown discounts, strikethrough anchors, swipe-to-decline, charge-concealing "Continue" buttons.

Citizen — proof-of-protection push
Aura — insurance line items + underwriter
Copilot — the timeline pattern
Life360 — map as proof
FitBod — remind-me toggle
Weather Hi-Def — per-week rows
YNAB — explicit renewal clarity
AllTrails — real-UI thumbnails
Falou — the fake-anchor specimen (cautionary)

Round-5 shortlist (F1 lineage)

  1. Proof strip: F1's value zone gains the dispatch-moment miniature (simulated notified-card / mini timeline) — real-UI, not abstract.
  2. Renewal-clarity block at the CTA: exact billed amount + renewal date + "we'll remind you before renewal" toggle.
  3. Coverage timeline variant: payment → verification window → protected, as the value spine.
  4. Keep: G1's per-week grid, the sheet, Save 42%/26%, Restore + legal. Never: anything on the rejected list.
